g's to gents
a few posts ago i mentioned that i photographed Fonzworth Bentley for his show "From G's to Gents". i was watching MTV today and realized that G's to Gents has been airing for a few weeks now. new episodes air on mondays at 10pm and are rerun throughout the week. be sure to check it out.
the day before i left for Quebec i had the pleasure of photographing some of my close friend khalym's clothing line Sir Hayes.. a very smart kids clothing line. i was finally able to go through the images the other night and i have found my favorite one (above). i know most people wouldn't expect me to photograph kids but i actually quite enjoy it.

o' canada
a couple of weeks ago i accompanied my good friend and excellent photographer erik snyder on a road trip to a little town in northern quebec called roberval. where he photographed la traversée internationale du lac st-jean, a prestigious series of open-water swimming races, for a personal project of his. we got back a few days ago. here are a few of the pictures i took from the trip. i will be uploading all of my favorites to the travel section of my portfolio site once i am finished all the scanning.

july news
i had the opportunity to photograph kate voegele (above) and natasha bedingfield (below) while they were in town. i haven't taken live music photos since my days shooting hardcore shows in the late '90s.. its a lot different when you can't stagedive. the other photographers were looking at me like i was crazy because they were shooting with their digital slr's and i was using my 16lb mamiya rb67 aptly nicknamed "the tank" but all in all i really like what i got.
below are some new photos i took this month for my ongoing series of photos i take when i have go-see's. no makeup, no styling, just models as-is.
coincidentally unrelated to my post about my new shoes (see previous post "ah summer") my former agency-mate mike piscitelli tapped me to photograph john varvatos for an upcoming issue of malibu magazine. below is my favorite outtake and yes, i did buy another pair of beekman oxfords in a different color.

ah summer
its been a while since i've had something to say here...
its been a busy couple of months. though it never really feels that way while in the midst of it. the weather really just makes it feel like downtime. i photographed Fonzworth Bentley for MTV to promote his upcoming series. along with miscellaneous fashion editorial i've started "testing*" again. also, i am very proud to say i have finished shooting my collaborative series with artist/art director/ and fellow Art Directors Club Young Guns recipient Jayson Atienza entitled "flying kicks" to be featured in an upcoming show. More details on all of that to come.
*testing is an industry term for shooting for the hell of it with no client in mind. that's usually when i take my favorite pictures.
for now, enjoy my 2 favorite recent purchases working in harmony.. my new 4x5 camera (sinar p2) and my varvatos beekman oxfords. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

one more time
last wednesday my sister called me and asked me if i wanted to go see the Cure in philly while i was in town for our mother's birthday and mother's day weekend.. um hells yes! (apparently the Cure were supposed to play in sept but had to cancel that's why the ticket says sept)
while in philly i got to go to monk's and get a great veggie burger and my favorite $22/bottle beer. dogfish head world wide stout 2005-2006 20% abv. good thing that stuff is delicious.
